POUGHKEEPSIE – , 49, is going back to prison for 15 years following a conviction on drug charges in June. Lebron, previously convicted of stabbing a man to death 15 years ago in Beacon, was arrested by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force following an investigation into drug sales in and around the Trolley Barn at 489 Main Street in Poughkeepsie in November.
Judge Karen Edelman-Reyes sentenced LeBron to 15 years in prison and three years of post-release supervision on Monday after a jury convicted him of criminal possession of a controlled substance. His attorney, , secured an acquittal on the charge of criminal possession of a weapon.
“Today’s 15-year sentence reflects the seriousness of this crime and our determination to hold accountable those who bring significant quantities of dangerous narcotics into our communities. Cocaine and other illegal drugs fuel addiction, violence, and instability, and my Office will continue to pursue those who profit from that harm,” said District Attorney Anthony Parisi. “This case is another example of the aggressive, intelligence-driven work being done by the District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force to identify drug traffickers, build strong cases, and remove dangerous narcotics from our streets. I commend the members of the Task Force, our law enforcement partners, and Senior Trial Assistant Joseph Russo and Unit Chief Griffin Kenyon for their outstanding work in securing this conviction and significant prison sentence.”
“This conviction is what accountability looks like—a repeat violent felon who has already taken a life and chose to return to serious criminal activity involving dangerous narcotics, said Drug Task Force Detective Sergeant Adam Harris. “We will relentlessly pursue those who profit from poisoning our communities. Fifteen years in state prison sends the right message: if you choose this life in Dutchess County, expect the Drug Task Force to come for you.”
