WASHINGTON – Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) told constituents on a tele-town hall session Monday evening that the cost of the with in Iran is “devastating,” ICE detention centers are “un-American,” and that the costs of food are getting “dramatically worse.”
Ryan said those issues and others all come down to the way the Trump administration is governing the country.
“The president and his administration are making these things worse rather than better, which is incredibly frustrating whether that’s the cost, frankly in blood and treasure of the Iran war, the tariffs that continue to really hurt our small businesses and drive up costs for everybody, whether that’s the impact of this big ugly bill passed a year ago that cut a trillion in healthcare, cut hundreds of millions in basic food assistance while adding $4 trillion to our debt that we certainly can’t sustain,” he said.
Ryan said the public should continue to keep the heat on ICE to keep detention centers out of the Hudson Valley and to keep the fight up to reopen the West Park post office, which was shut down when the lease with the building owner was not renewed this summer.
