GOSHEN – The need for housing in the Hudson Valley is tied to filling the job market, especially as existing businesses expand and new ones enter the market.
Orange County Partnership President Connor Eckert the job pipeline in his county alone is about new positions, and with them comes the need for housing or all types and price ranges.
“We need to create an environment that is easier to build housing, but frankly to build projects generally. New York is a complicated place to do business, but it’s a great place to do business, but if we can create the conditions to get in the ground faster, we become substantially more competitive across industry sectors,” he said. “And we are connecting; we are aligning our housing strategy with the job creation centers, with transportation infrastructure and downtowns.”
That strategy goes beyond Orange County, and extends to all counties in the region.
