YORKTOWN – Hateful messages and swastikas found on a pedestrian bridge that connects Granite Knolls and Legacy Park over the Taconic State Parkway have enraged officials in Yorktown.
Police said a hiker discovered the hate carved into the bridge’s concrete flooring and contacted the town’s Parks Department which notified law enforcement.
Yorktown Supervisor Ed Lachterman said the hateful symbols were removed later that day after the matter was referred to State Police.
The supervisor described the graffiti as being disgusting and unnecessary adding. “We will never allow messages of hate to go unanswered in our community.”
Anyone with information about the antisemitic messages is asked to contact Yorktown Police at 914-962-4141 or the nearest State Police barracks.
