NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh Planning and Development Department is conducting a city-wide parking study to evaluate the availability of public parking and is asking for community input.
Planning Director Ali Church said is looking at current metered parking and the response to residential development and its need for additional parking.
“It’s also looking at some neighborhoods, a specific neighborhood around the hospital, to see if it makes sense to have a neighborhood parking area where residents who live in that neighborhood could have a parking sticker and other parking would be banned for the overnight hours because there is some congestion around the hospital,” she said.
Several years ago, the city transitioned away from coin-fed parking meters to an app-based parking meter fees.
