ALBANY – The State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued its final statement of basis to remediate contamination of one of nine operable units – a residential parcel at the former Texaco Research Center site on Old Glenham Road in East Fishkill.

The remediation of the 150-acre site that straddles Fishkill Creek is zoned for industrial use.

Remediation includes excavation and off-site disposal of contaminated area to six inches below surface grade to meet residential use soil cleanup objective; importing clean material; implementing a Health and Safety Plan and Community Air Monitoring Plan during all ground intrusive activities; implementing a site management plan; and recording an environmental easement to ensure proper use of the land.

The estimated cost to implement the cleanup is $115,000.

The DEC says remaining operable units will be the subject of future statements of basis.
