CARMEL- Crimes committed against children are some of the most heinous.
Prosecutors from throughout the Hudson Valley attended this week’s Crimes Against Children Conference in Dallas where members of law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, medical and mental health providers, advocacy groups, and technology experts from across the United States and around the world shared knowledge, best practices, and innovative strategies specifically geared towards child protection and a multi-disciplinary response.
Putnam Assistant District Attorney Luciana Savone traveled to the Lone Star state in coordination with Mary Beth Ross of the Putnam County Child Advocacy Center.
During her stay Savone attended fourteen sessions which covered a variety of topics including investigative techniques, prosecution strategies, victim support, and the use of technology in child protection cases.
Savone said: “The conference has provided me with access to added ‘on demand’ sessions, legal resources, and contacts across the country which will help our office better serve special victims and their families.”
Putnam District Attorney Robert Tendy added: “Our office takes crimes against children very seriously, and we do everything possible to educate and train our Assistant District Attorneys. Ms. Savone has confidently and aggressively taken on the prosecution of these crimes, often the most emotionally distressing and complicated cases and investigations in the office. We applaud her for fighting to protect children in our county.”
