INDIAN LAKE – State, county, and local authorities are searching the vast Adirondack woodlands for a 72-year-old Mahopac man who went missing earlier this month in rural Hamilton County.

Craig Streeter was reported missing in the Moose River Plains area of Inlet, where he had been camping.

Investigators said Streeter was last seen at a Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake wearing a dark long-sleeve shirt and jeans. Police said he left the store in his RV and was last heard from that day.

According to State Police, Streeter often travels and camps in remote areas.

Authorities reported Wednesday that Streeter’s RV was located at a remote campsite, but no one has been in contact with the Putnam man for over two weeks.

Carmel Police Chief Anthony Hoffmann said State Police asked Carmel detectives to assist the investigation by conducting interviews in the greater Mahopac-Carmel area. Hoffmann emphasized that the case is a State Police investigation.

Anyone with information should contact the Department of Environmental Conservation at 518-897-1300, New York State Police at 518-897-2000, or the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 518-548-3113.
