WAWAYANDA – Now that a State Supreme Court justice has ruled that the large, five-story Amazon distribution center in the Town of Wawayanda can move forward, Town Supervisor Denise Quinn says there would be financial growth for the town.
Quinn told Mid-Hudson News the community and its residents would benefit.
“They are going to be building us a building for our ambulance department, and they are going to be giving the town additional money besides the PILOT payments, so for the town, I do think it is a benefit,” she said.
Opponents of the project argued in court that the planning board accepted a negative declaration of environmental impact and rejected the height variance.
It will now be up to the Orange County Industrial Development Agency as to if Amazon will quality for financial incentives to build the massive center.
