EAST FISHKILL – State Assemblyman A.J. Beephan (R, East Fishkill) is just back from a fact-finding visit to Taiwan with state lawmakers from New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania to explore that country’s semi-conductor industry and how it can mesh with the industry in the United States.
Beephan there is “an immense demand” for chips that the Hudson Valley can benefit.
“I learned how interconnected we are and the fact that they are willing to invest more money here in the United States either in the Hudson Valley or plants in Texas or Arizona or other places, but right now there is such an immense demand for these products that there is a lot of opportunity in this state to benefit from,” he told Mid-Hudson News.
Aside from the semi-conductor industry, Beephan said discussions included emergency service staffing shortages, data centers, tariffs and how to attract investment and good-paying jobs in the US.
