GOSHEN – A Newburgh man who pled guilty to selling cocaine was sentenced in Orange County Court on Wednesday to nine years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

District Attorney David Hoovler said Shomaray Lane, 33, one of several people arrested in connection with ‘Operation Powder Burn,” admitted in court to being involved in the criminal enterprise that included selling over two ounces of cocaine.

As part of his plea, he must forfeit $42,132 and a vehicle.

The eight-month investigation yielded 20 people arrested in connection with illegal firearms and narcotics trafficking in Orange County.

Involved law enforcement included those agencies in Orange, Dutchess and Westchester counties, federal and state, New York City Police, as well as authorities in DeKalb County, Georgia, where most of the firearms were brought to the region.

During the investigation, undercover police purchased 55 firearms and over 700 grams of cocaine and fentanyl.
