MAHOPAC – With summer reaching its midpoint, students in the Mahopac School District’s Austin Road School have been experiencing a summer to remember filled with learning, creativity, and friendship through PTO-sponsored camps.
Incoming kindergarten boys and girls-built confidence for the school year during Kindercamp, while young learners explored ocean life through the “Under the Sea” Adventure Camp, blending reading, science, technology, and creative play. Students also put their curiosity and problem-solving skills to the test during STEM Camp with hands-on robotics, coding and engineering challenges.
In Crafty Kitchen camp, campers learned that education can be both creative and delicious. They made French toast and ice cream sandwiches, planted flowers, designed custom pencil cases, and played games with friends, combining culinary fun, creativity, and hands-on learning.
In Super Sculptors, young artists developed new skills by creating imaginative projects with paper mâché, clay, and sewing, while Camp Fun kept students active with games, crafts, yoga, and outdoor activities that encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and new friendships.
Camp director Susan Downey was pleased that the children learned new skills and lasting memories with plenty of excitement for the school year ahead.
