GOSHEN – Orange County is upgrading its parks energy systems with a $1.2 million grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.

“Orange County is committed to strengthening our public facilities through strategic, fiscally responsible investment,” said County Executive Steven Neuhaus. “By modernizing our parks system with electric equipment and vehicles, we are improving operational performance, reducing long-term costs, and advancing the county’s clean energy objectives.”

Electric equipment will support operations such as mowing, landscaping, and grounds maintenance across major recreation areas including campgrounds, athletic fields, trails, arboretum spaces, and other public facilities.

“County Parks Commissioner Travis Ewald said this investment “helps us maintain high-quality public spaces while reducing noise and emissions in areas used by residents year-round.”
