PUTNAM VALLEY- Family and friends are mourning the passing of Joseph Petti of Putnam Valley.
The 56-year-old contractor was killed Friday evening in a freak mishap that occurred when the owner of JSP Sewer and Drain Cleaning Company was operating a skid steer on his Park Drive property when he fell from the machine and sustained a fatal head injury.
Sheriff Brian Hess said Saturday evening that a preliminary investigation into Petti’s death found that he had not been pinned beneath or run over by the several-ton skid steer.
Hess added: “The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.”
Nine-one-one calls sent police and EMS personnel to the scene along with Putnam County Coroner John Bouges who pronounced Petti dead.
An autopsy is scheduled to help determine the exact cause of death.
