ELLENVILLE – The Ellenville and Wawarsing CARE event, the first in the village, was hosted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and brought residents of all ages together to connect directly with law enforcement and municipal representatives, and to gain hands-on access to a variety of community resources. The Thursday afternoon activities featured family-friendly music, games, and free food for the public while racing.

Town Supervisor Joe Stoeckeler said events like these are important. “It’s challenging sometimes to connect with one another. Obviously, the village and the town working together, towards the betterment of our area. It’s a win for the residents.”

Jenny Peterson from the sheriff’s office said it’s about the youth.

“We’re trying to build programs using all of the county resources that we have, to give them more positive activities, family night, something that’ll bring the families and community together. So that was the whole purpose of the caravan,” she said.
