The Detroit Tigers have a 47-53 record so far this season. Detroit is on the verge of potentially missing the playoffs. With the MLB trade deadline less than two weeks away, one of the biggest questions will be about whether or not the Tigers are going to trade star pitcher Tarik Skubal. Skubal is in the final year of his contract with the franchise.

He is 29 years old and is going to be the top starting pitcher on the trade market. Skubal so far this season with Detroit has pitched in 14 games. In 82.2 innings pitched, he has given up 66 hits and 29 runs. Skubal has also walked 11 batters and has struck out 98 batters. His WHIP is 0.93. There are going to be a lot of teams that are going to call the Tigers about if his availability on the trade market.

MLB Analyst Lists the Milwaukee Brewers as a Dark Horse Candidate to Trade for Tarik Skubal

The Milwaukee Brewers have a 63-37 record this season in the MLB. Milwaukee has the best record in baseball. The Brewers have never won a World Series in franchise history. Dayn Perry of CBS Sports listed eight different teams who could trade for Tigers ace Skubal. He listed Milwaukee as one of the teams to make a trade for him.

Perry said,

“Consider the Crew to be the dark horse long-shot pick in the Skubal derby. This is not the kind of move they tend to make, at least of late, but it would be evocative of their legendary deadline deal for walk-year ace CC Sabathia back in 2008. Skubal would be a fit because the Brewers will need innings if they’re going to fend off the Cubs, and they need a second ace alongside Jacob Misiorowski if they’re going to make a deep playoff charge (and maybe win the World Series for the first time in franchise history). Brandon Woodruff is done for the season, and Kyle Harrison is presently laid up with elbow problems. On top of all that, Misiorowski’s in line for a big jump in innings this season. “

The Brewers have one of the best farm systems in all of baseball. Detroit can get a nice haul in a trade for Skubal. There is a chance that Detroit could ask about #2 prospect INF Luis Pena and #5 prospect INF Jett Williams. The Brewers will not trade Cooper Pratt or Jesus Made. Made is the number one prospect in all of baseball.

The Tigers could also decide to keep him. However, if Detroit were to trade him to Milwaukee, a one-two combination of Jacob Misiorowski and Skubal in the postseason could be very dangerous for the Brewers here.
