WINGDALE – Forty-nine-year-old Ryan Courtien, the former Dover Town Supervisor who was reported missing on July 12, triggering a large-scale search involving multiple police agencies, helicopters, drones, and K9s, was located Friday evening around 6 p.m. at the Harlem Valley – Wingdale Metro-North train station. A Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputy radioed 911 to request an ambulance for an EMS evaluation of the “found missing person in Dover.”
Courtien, the Chairman of the Dover Planning Board, was originally reported missing on Sunday, July 12, after he exited the house to do yardwork around 9:30 a.m.
A large-scale search was initiated and was in place until the state police called it off on Wednesday, July 15, leaving state BCI investigators to track down leads.
On Friday afternoon, the state police announced that surveillance photos at Grand Central Terminal in New York City showed Courtien exiting a Metro-North Train and then leaving the terminal onto Madison Avenue, still wearing the khaki pants and black shirt he had been wearing in Dover.
On Friday evening, the New York State Police received a call about Courtien being at the Harlem Valley-Wingdale train station. A deputy from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office was in the area and responded to the station, locating Courtien near the pull-off, just south of the station.
The deputy requested an ambulance to the location and Courtien was later turned over to the state police.
