MT. PLEASANT – A 20-year-old Mahopac man facing felony charges for allegedly pointing a handgun at a school bus following a road rage incident on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Mt. Pleasant earlier this year has been indicted by a Westchester County grand jury.
Michael Alarcon was arrested February 4 after allegedly pointing a pistol at a school bus driver transporting three children with special needs.
State Police said Alarcon was caught by authorities later that day and police recovered a 22-caliber handgun equipped with a green laser and weapon-mounted light.
District Attorney Susan Cacace said that the “defendant’s actions were egregious. The fact that the victims were special needs children only amplifies the recklessness. Thankfully, he was quickly apprehended, and no one was injured.”
The Putnam man is facing charges of weapons possession, menacing and endangering the welfare of a child.
The top felony charge carries a maximum 15-year jail sentence in a state prison if found guilty.
