NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh has temporarily shut down its Delano-Dutch Aquatic Center because of the smoke from the Canadian wildfires.
For the last two days, smoke from those fires has migrated to the Hudson Valley causing potential breathing risks for persons with health issues.
The State Department of Environmental Conservation has declared Orange County as having “unhealthy” air.
The city made the decision out of an abundance oc caution and in consideration of public sasfety, weather conditions, and event logistics.
The center has closed at 3 p.m. on Thursday and will remain closed until further notice.
