Several Hollywood actors came under intense criticism on Sunday after posting controversial reactions on social media following the reported death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. Their comments quickly spread online, fueling debate over political rhetoric, civility, and the increasingly hostile tone of public discourse.

Actor and comedian Michael Ian Black, who appeared in Superman (2025) and serves as the host of CNN’s Have I Got News for You, shared a lengthy post on the social media platform BlueSky in which he harshly criticized Graham’s political legacy. Black described the longtime South Carolina senator as a “parasite” and argued that his career would be remembered for what he viewed as unwavering loyalty to political allies rather than independent leadership.

Black also linked followers to a post published on his Substack page, where he expanded on his criticism. In the article, he claimed Graham abandoned the principles he once championed while working closely with the late Sen. John McCain and instead aligned himself with President Donald Trump for political gain. The post included additional personal remarks about Graham that further fueled controversy and drew strong reactions from users across the political spectrum.

Meanwhile, actor Ethan Embry, best known for his roles in Sweet Home Alabama and the upcoming Scream 7, also faced backlash after posting a message on BlueSky that many interpreted as wishing harm on Republican lawmakers.

“I don’t see what the celebration is all about, there’s still 51 of ’em walking around,” Embry wrote, referring to Republican members of the U.S. Senate. The post was widely circulated and criticized by many who argued that it crossed the line of acceptable political commentary.

Embry has frequently used his BlueSky account to express strong political opinions. In recent months, he has repeatedly criticized Republicans and supporters of President Donald Trump. Following U.S. military strikes against Iran last month, Embry posted an expletive-filled message blaming the millions of Americans who voted for Trump for the nation’s political direction.

Earlier this year, Embry also directed criticism toward Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, arguing that Schumer should step aside because, in Embry’s view, the New York senator was not progressive enough.

The actors’ latest comments have reignited discussions about the role of celebrities in political discourse and whether public figures should exercise greater restraint when commenting on the deaths of political leaders. Supporters of the actors defended their right to express their opinions, while critics argued that such remarks contribute to growing political division and a decline in respectful public debate.

As screenshots of the posts continued circulating across social media, the controversy underscored how quickly political commentary from high-profile celebrities can generate widespread attention and provoke sharply divided reactions online.
