MONTICELLO – After sitting dormant for some 40 years, the former Grossinger’s resort property in the Village of Liberty could see a major new development.
Sullivan County Partnership President Marc Baez said the resort project, expected to be in the “hundreds of millions of dollars,” would have regional impact.
“They are going to redo the original Big G golf course. They are going to add an additional golf course on top of that called the North Course. They are going to add an equestrian center year-round to bring folks up from the Hamptons and other locations that don’t have a location to do that there,” he said. “They will have a boutique hotel closer to the lake. They will have a spa. They will have a pro center with instruction, and they will homes that you would see around a golf course like at Weste Hills and some of the golf courses you see in Westchester County, New Jersey and beyond.”
The project, which has been presented to the Liberty Village Planning Board, would employ hundreds of people, Baez said.
