WAPPINGER — Town officials in Wappinger marked the completion of renovations and announced the Hilltop Well Field Phase II Filtration Improvements Project at the Hilltop Water Treatment Facility this week, highlighting a major commitment to safe and reliable drinking water for residents.

The project stems from a bipartisan effort led by U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) and Town Supervisor Joseph Cavaccini, in collaboration with county and state officials, to advance critical infrastructure improvements for the community.

The Phase II project will add advanced water treatment and carbon filtration systems to boost water quality, operational efficiency and the long-term reliability of the town’s public water system. The upgrades address previous concerns and ensure continued compliance with federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards. Officials said the investment will also help reduce future maintenance needs and infrastructure costs, potentially minimizing the need for more extensive upgrades in the future.

Unlike many municipal systems that draw from the Hudson River, the Hilltop facility sources water from Wappinger Creek and includes the town’s first municipally owned well site. Officials said these upgrades mark a milestone in preserving and strengthening Wappinger’s independent, locally sourced water supply for both current and future residents.

“This project represents an investment not only in our infrastructure but in the health, safety, and future of our community,” said Town Supervisor Joseph Cavaccini. “By modernizing our water treatment systems today, we are ensuring that residents continue to receive clean, dependable drinking water while reducing long-term costs and building a more resilient water system for generations to come.”
