DUTCHESS COUNTY – Verizon Wireless has been experiencing service outages since the pre-dawn hours of Monday, and the outages may affect calls to 911.  Dutchess County Emergency Management/Dutchess County 911 issued an advisory Monday afternoon, alerting people who are experiencing an emergency that they may not be able to contact 911 using a cell phone.

The social media post from Dutchess County:

“Dutchess Co 911 is monitoring a regional Verizon Wireless outage. Be aware: your device may not be able to call/text 911 with no service. If your device displays “SOS” you may have limited connectivity but wifi calling may be an option. We will continue to monitor this outage.”
