WURTSBORO – The Mamakating Environmental Education Center summer camp brings nature to life. It’s all about disconnecting from screens and reconnecting with the Earth.

The center’s director, Jackie Broder, says it’s a wonderful opportunity for kids to experience something different. “They are out in nature every single day. They go for a hike. They will be hands-on, discovering insects, animals.”

She said some parents may think sending their kids to camp is expensive, but it’s not compared to paying for childcare, and they get so much more out of it.

“This is a way that their kids are safe and learning, and away from screens. I think the emotional connection to nature is the most important thing you can give your kids.
