CARMEL – The Putnam County Business Council has launched “Putnam County Business Community Speaks,” a multi-platform campaign designed to capture the voice of local business owners while bringing their priorities to the county’s elected officials.

The centerpiece of the campaign is the Putnam County Legislative Round Table, a forum that meets business owners and elected officials for an open dialogue about the business climate and economic development throughout Putnam’s six towns and three villages.

Jennifer Maher, founding chair of the Business Council, noted, “As an independent, non-government-funded business advocacy organization, we believe it’s time to re-focus on championing the business community. The campaign is about giving every business owner a seat at the table and making sure that their voices drive the conversation with our elected officials.”

Nat Prentice, the council’s government liaison, met with members of the Putnam Legislature telling them, “We are re-energizing the relationship between the business community and our elected officials. Our legislative priorities report will give legislators something concrete – real data, real priorities, straight from the people who are running businesses and creating jobs.”

Business Council Vice Chair Nick D’Andrea described Putnam’s business community as being “incredibly resilient and diverse. The goal of this campaign is to unify the ‘Voice of Putnam Business’ and make it loud and clear so that elected officials at every level can hear it.”

Throughout the summer and early fall, the council will be encouraging business owners countywide to complete a Legislative Round Table Survey, which covers topics including workforce availability, property taxes, infrastructure, energy costs, permitting delays, and economic development.
