GOSHEN – Some 17 to 20 Junior ROTC members became ill when the air conditioning on the bus they were in broke while driving through the Town of Goshen late Wednesday morning.

Orange County Emergency Services Commissioner Pete Cirigliano told Mid-Hudson News that two buses were driving on Scotchtown Avenue near Mt. Joy Hill Road when the A/C on one conked out.

Several of the students, who were believed under 18 years of age, were transported to Garnet, Montefiore St. Luke’s and St. Anthony’s hospitals for treatment of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

The second bus continued on to their destination at an upstate camp. They had traveled from a camp in New Jersey.
