MID-HUDSON – “It’s a pretty high confidence that it’s going to be hot this week. It’s no surprise that it’s not going to get hot.”

National Weather Service meteorologist Kaitlyn Lardeo says that there is a potential for a heat wave in our area. A heat wave is when three consecutive days are above 90 degrees.

“We have increasing dew points through the week as well. So it’s the temperature and the humidity that are going to increase and make it more uncomfortable, she said. “It will build up between Thursday and Friday, and the street temperature will be between 90 and 95,” she said.

People should use precautions when in the heat.

“Stay in cool areas, if that’s your home, or if there are cooling centers that will likely open, she said. “Stay cool, like in the shade, if you have to go outside. Protect yourself from the sun itself by using sunscreen. Wearing lighter type colored clothing and keep up with the current forecast because it’s going to be hot.” Lardeo.
