BREWSTER – “No child, no senior, nobody should go hungry at night, in the richest country in the world; it is simply unconscionable.” This is the guiding belief of dedicated Putnam residents who distributed dozens of bags of food on Sunday, made possible by generous donations from Hudson Valley residents whose support was called a “blessing to many.”
Volunteers arrived early to sort nonperishable food donated through several Black Heritage events and weekly ‘ICE OUT OF BREWSTER’ rallies.
Volunteers then delivered the bags to families in need.
Putnam’s Food Sovereignty Team led by Ixmucane, Robin and Maria said while Putnam may be one of the most affluent counties in New York State, “people are hurting financially and generous donations to feed the hungry are always welcome.”
