LIBERTY – The Sullivan Fresh Farmers Market season has officially returned. This initiative increases access to fresh fruits and vegetables across Sullivan County through targeted community outreach and nutrition education by providing multilingual resources, cooking demonstrations, and incentive programs. Sullivan Fresh ensures healthy produce is affordable for all residents.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Food Systems Program Manager, Alan Carroll, explains.
“Opening this Thursday, June 25th, is our Sullivan Fresh Monticello Farmer’s Market, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday across from the Government Building.”
He says everyone is welcome, and those in food assistance programs can use their benefits to buy healthy food.
“We carry fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and assorted other products that are all New York State and mostly Sullivan County sourced.”
They provide these markets because of geographic need.
“By going to those areas, we can improve the health of our residents and give them choices that they deserve.”
