Workforce housing to be developed adjacent to Monticello Raceway

MONTICELLO – Over 100 units of workforce housing will be developed adjacent to Monticello Raceway following the sale of the property to Kearney Realty & Development of Somers.

The developer has signed a contract of sale with Resorts World Catskills, a subsidiary of Empire Resorts, a member of the Genting Group.

The housing will be located along County Route 17B at the racetrack.

State Assemblywoman Paula Kay (D, Rock Hill), who brought the parties together, said the project will play “a crucial role” in the future development of Sullivan County.

“It’s a win for Sullivan County; it’s a win for our local economy, and it’s a win for people who work here now need a place to live,” she told Mid-Hudson News. “I am so excited about this, and the contracts have been fully executed, so we are so to speak, off to the racetrack.”

Robert DeSalvio, president of Ghenting America’s East said, “Housing has become the number one issue facing communities across New York State, and it is a challenge we see up close at all three of our Resorts World properties in Catskills, Hudson Valley and New York City.

County Legislature Chairwoman Nadia Rajsz called the project “a historic investment for Sullivan County,” and she said “the need for this type of housing is present in every part” of the county.
