SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties man has been arrested and charged with seriously injuring a Saugerties police officer.
John Gilkes, 35, was arrested on June 13 and charged with felony assault for seriously injuring the officer who was transported to HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston and transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
The officer was treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. Diaz Ambulance assisted the police.
Police did not disclose the circumstances of the incident.
