MONROE- The Monroe Police Department has achieved a major milestone, earning reaccreditation from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and marking 25 consecutive years of accredited status.
The reaccreditation, awarded June 4, recognizes the department’s long-standing commitment to professionalism, accountability, and high-quality police services. Participation in the state accreditation program requires agencies to meet rigorous standards and demonstrate ongoing efforts toward excellence and continuous improvement.
Police Chief Darwin Guzman and Lt. Timothy Young attended the DCJS Accreditation Council meeting in Albany, where the department was formally recognized for maintaining those standards over the past quarter century.
During the ceremony, Young, who serves as the department’s Accreditation Program Manager, received the John Kimball O’Neil Certificate of Achievement in recognition of his dedication to the accreditation process.
“This achievement reflects our department’s dedication and commitment to the highest standards of service,” Guzman said.
The chief also praised Young’s leadership in overseeing the accreditation program and thanked Mayor Alex Melchiorre and the Village Board for their continued support.
“The mayor and village board’s support is vital to maintaining accreditation and serving our community,” Guzman said.
Department officials said they remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability while continuing to build trust and partnerships throughout the Monroe community.
