ALBANY – Two regional supervising judges for town and village courts in the Third Judicial District of New York have been named by Administrative Judge Danielle Jose-Decker.

Family Court Judge Sarah Rakov has been appointed supervising judge of the town and village courts in the Southern Region of the Third District, which encompasses Sullivan, Ulster, and Greene counties.

Court of Claims Judge and Acting Supreme Court Justice Adam Silverman has been appointed supervising judge of town and village courts in the Northern Region of the Third Judicial District, which encompasses Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia and Schoharie counties.

“Town and village courts are often the first – and sometimes the only – point of contact that members of our communities have with the justice system,” said Jose-Decker. “Judges Rakov and Silverman each bring a depth of experience, judgment and genuine commitment to these courts that will make them outstanding resources and mentors for our justices and clerks. I am confident that this regional structure will strengthen the support, training, and oversight that our town and village justices receive and deserve.”
