ELLENVILLE – Stephen L Kelley, the president and CEO of Ellenville Regional Hospital, has been named Chair of the Health Care Association of New York State (HANYS) Board of Trustees through 2027. HANYS is an advocacy group representing 20 million New Yorkers. He says that addressing rising costs will be his priority as chair, while maintaining quality health care for patients. He says that the “draconian cuts” by the feds will make matters worse in the coming months and years.
“Health care is under siege. The administration in Washington is paying for its priorities by taking funding from health care,” he said. “It would be the largest movement of funds out of health care ever, and that is going to really decimate New York’s health care system,” he warned.
Kelley is honored by his appointment. “No one from a small hospital has had this opportunity before. And I am eternally grateful for the opportunity. And I’m going to do everything I can to not let them down,” he said.
