NEWBURGH – A Maybrook man has been charged with kidnapping and multiple counts of violating an order of protection after allegedly holding a woman against her will inside a village residence, New York State Police said.

Jerry Carrasquillo, 46, was arrested following an investigation into a reported domestic incident at a home on Prospect Avenue in the Village of Maybrook.

State police said investigators determined Carrasquillo unlawfully restrained a 47-year-old woman and held her against her will inside the residence. Troopers responded to the scene, safely removed the victim from the home, and took Carrasquillo into custody without incident.

Carrasquillo was charged with second-degree kidnapping, three counts of first-degree criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection through physical menacing, two counts of aggravated criminal contempt for allegedly causing physical injury in violation of an order of protection, and third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor. He was transported to the State Police barracks in Montgomery for processing and later arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Court.

The court ordered Carrasquillo held in the Orange County Jail. Bail on the kidnapping charge was set at $50,000 cash, a $50,000 partially secured bond, or a $200,000 secured bond. On the assault charge, bail was set at $25,000 cash, a $25,000 partially secured bond, or a $100,000 secured bond.

Carrasquillo is scheduled to return to the Town of Newburgh Court on June 9.
