DOBBS FERRY – Former Newburgh Deputy City Manager Michael Neppl has been hired as the new village administrator in Dobbs Ferry.

He will assume his new job on June 24 after undergoing a screening process with the assistance of former Mayor Don Marra.

Nineteen qualified applicants were received, and the village board conducted two sets of interviews and called several references for the final candidates, said Mayor Christy Knell.

Neppl served as Newburgh City chief of staff for some for years and then prompted to deputy city manager after that position was created this past January.

Neppl worked under former City Manager Todd Venning, who left the city at the end of March and it was expected that Neppl would leave as well since he did not receive the support of the city council to replace Venning as city manager.

The new village manager will replace Rob Yamuder, who is retiring.

“Mike has clear passion and passion and excitement and love for this work, which I think we all felt in our hours of discussions with him.”

As of 2021, the estimated population of the village was 11,456.
