WURTSBORO – The village of Wurtsboro received the 2025 Silver Feather grant from the Sullivan 180 Community Impact Program to build a community park on a vacant lot.
“We have a place for not only our youth, but our adults as well to come out, socialize, and exercise.” Wurtsboro Board of Trade, Kelly De Guzman, talked about the completion of the park at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday.
Assembly member Paula Kaye was a pickleball enthusiast. “I never get to play enough. And now, right in my backyard, there’s pickleball and basketball (courts).”
Sullivan 180’s Shannon Cilento said they granted $75,000 for the park. “Creating a park, creating access to parks and trails (is their mission). Recreation is just an incredible way to build a healthy community,” she said.
Village mayor Frank Cisco was grateful. “We did this for the older kids and adults to have a safe place to get some exercise,” he said. “We got a nice park for everybody in the village.”
