GOSHEN – A Town of Newburgh man faces five to 25 years in state prison when sentenced in Orange County Court in July for setting fire to an occupied hotel on Route 52 in the Town of Newburgh.
District Attorney David Hoovler said the man had barricaded himself in a room and set it on fire.
“Jason Conn, 49, of the Town of Newburgh, was convicted of arson, criminal mischief, obstructing firefighting, and several other felonies related to the July 24, 2025 fire that he intentionally set in the Town of Newburgh, which jeopardized and placed all of the residents of that hotel at great risk,” Hoovler said.
Firefighters had to gain entry through an adjacent and remove Conn from the building.
