BREWSTER – The Brewster High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program earned the prestigious 2026 Distinguished Unit with Honors designation, marking its fourth straight year receiving the award.
Brewster ranked third among 30 schools in Area 1, placing it in the top 10 percent of more than 600 Navy JROTC units worldwide. This designation is the highest honor awarded to NJROTC programs.
NJROTC units are graded annually and may receive one of three distinctions: Unit Achievement Award (top 50 percent), Distinguished Unit (top 30 percent), or Distinguished Unit with Honors (top 20 percent).
School officials credited the success of Putnam’s only NJROTC program to the dedication, leadership, and discipline of its cadets, along with the commitment of its instructors and the support of families and the school community.
