Dozens remember the fallen in Dutchess County

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Adam Roche, the Director of Veterans Services for Dutchess County, brought together elected officials, veterans, and the community to pay respects to the soldiers, sailors, and Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States on Monday at the Dutchess County War Memorial on Main Street.

Town of Poughkeepsie Supervisor Rebecca Edwards noted that her town has lost warriors dating back to the Revolutionary War.  “Today is about the past,” Edwards said, adding,” but it’s also about today.  Even if someone died long ago, grief and loss continue.”

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino spent a few minutes touting the work of Director Roche and his office before stressing that Memorial Day is to “remember and honor the heroes who gave everything for our country.”
