POUGHKEEPSIE — U.S. Men’ and Nike hosted the “Hometown Heroes” community soccer event at Pulaski Park on Saturday. The event featured the rededication of two mini-soccer pitches at the park, which originally opened in 2022. The mini-pitches were funded.
The “Hometown Heroes” initiative focused on the rededication of the two mini-pitches, which feature artwork by New York artist . The newly painted pitches are designed to blend sport, art and community identity in a public space used by local youth, according to event organizers.

“Tyler’s commitment to making soccer accessible for youth in Dutchess County is unwavering,” said Brian Laffin, Poughkeepsie superintendent of parks and recreation. “He has brought together an impressive list of organizations collaborating with local efforts to give kids a chance to play. The results are easy to see. We have kids using these mini-pitches every day.”

Saturday’s festivities included a coed youth 4-on-4 tournament for players ages 13 to 15, as well as a surprise Nike gift kit with U.S. team soccer jerseys for participants.
Adams, a graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappinger who now captains the U.S. Men’s National Team and plays in top European leagues, participated remotely by sharing a video message with attendees.
