SOUTHEAST- Police, fire and EMS personnel rushed to a pond along the Maybrook Trailway in Southeast Saturday when a woman called the Putnam 9-1-1 Dispatch Center reporting a body floating in the water.

The Brewster Fire Department responded along with members of the Brewster State Police, Putnam Sheriff’s Department, an Empress Paramedic, and the Brewster FD Rescue Squad.

When responders arrived, they found what looked like a human leg protruding from the pond.

The department deployed a boat and a drone.

After several tense moments, radio traffic eased concerns when Chief Mike Miller reported that the ‘supposed’ leg was merely debris in the water.
