POUGHKEEPSIE – Hundreds of students wearing caps and gowns graduated from (DCC) on Friday evening. The 67th Commencement featured former Foot Locker CEO and DCC class of 1972 graduate Keith Daly as the keynote speaker. Daly has remained active with DCC, currently serving as Chair of the Finance Committee for the DCC Foundation.
DCC has grown into a school with more than 60 areas of study, serving 7,000 students annually and producing more than 50,000 alumni since its founding in 1957. The college also boasts the lowest tuition in New York State.
Following a commencement of more than two hours, graduates, friends, and family exited the MJN Convention Center and found themselves stuck in heavy traffic, as students from a local high school were arriving for their prom at the DoubleTree Hotel.
City of Poughkeepsie police provided extra officers to get cars out of the Financial Parking Deck and moving away from the location as quickly as possible.
