EAST FISHKILL – The current moratorium on industrial properties expires next month and the East Fishkill Town Board is planning to renew it, but this time, to include data centers.
There was a recent , something Town Supervisor Nicholas D’Alessando said would never work since that area does not have the electrical capacity to handle one.
“They can be reassured that now with this moratorium that we are going to place that it will stop any data centers from coming,” he told .
D’Alessandro said the purpose of the proposed moratorium extension is to ensure the town has adequate time to carefully review current zoning and determine whether additional safeguards or updates are necessary before considering uses such as large-scale data centers on industrially zoned properties.
