🚨 Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang Pleads Guilty to Acting as Unregistered Agent for the Chinese Communist Party – Part of a Larger Network Targeting Falun

In another devastating exposure of the CCP’s infiltration of American local government, Eileen Wang, Mayor of Arcadia, California, has admitted in a federal plea deal to serving as an illegal agent of the People’s Republic of China.

Court documents unsealed today confirm that Wang, while serving as a city council member and later mayor of the affluent Los Angeles suburb, worked with her then-fiancé Yaoning “Mike” Sun to operate a fake “U.S. News Center” website from late 2020 through 2022. The site masqueraded as independent news for Chinese-Americans but functioned as a direct CCP propaganda platform. The pair received explicit directives from Chinese government handlers, published regime-approved articles, and regularly reported back detailed viewership data to their communist overseers.

Wang was elected to the Arcadia City Council in November 2022 — while the propaganda operation was active — and rose to mayor. Among the content she posted on orders: a CCP-drafted essay flatly denying genocide and forced labor in Xinjiang, claiming such reports were “rumors to defame China.”

Her handler praised her speed: “So fast, thank you everyone.” Wang replied to praise for traffic numbers with “Thank you leader.”

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli warned that Wang’s rise to the highest local office should “terrify Americans.” She now faces up to 10 years in federal prison.

Deeper Network: Longtime CCP Operatives and the Persecution of Falun Gong

This case is not isolated. Mike Sun, Wang’s former fiancé and campaign treasurer who helped engineer her 2022 election victory, was sentenced in February 2026 to four years in federal prison after pleading guilty in October 2025 to acting as an unregistered Chinese agent from 2022 to 2024.

Sun served for decades as the right-hand man in the United States to John Chen (also known as Chen Jun), a high-level CCP intelligence operative who personally met with Xi Jinping and attended elite Party functions.

Chen was sentenced in November 2024 to 20 months in prison after pleading guilty to acting as an illegal agent and conspiring to bribe an IRS official.

, a performing arts group founded by the Falun Gong spiritual movement — banned and brutally persecuted by the CCP in China — of its tax-exempt status in the United States.

In April 2023, just weeks before his own arrest, Chen instructed Sun to gather intelligence on Falun Gong practice sites in California so they could “make trouble” or “eradicate” them for rewards from Beijing. The pair discussed reporting back to the CCP and related travel plans.

Federal prosecutors explicitly described Chen’s activities as part of the Chinese Communist Party’s transnational repression campaign against dissidents and spiritual groups overseas.

Sun’s own reporting to Beijing highlighted efforts against “anti-China forces,” including Falun Gong practitioners, Taiwanese independence supporters, and others. His plea focused on political infiltration and propaganda, while the conspiracy charges with Chen underscored the broader malign network.

The relationship between Wang and Sun ended in 2024 after his charges became public.

I first raised serious red flags about Eileen Wang in February 2025, long before today’s plea deal.

The picture is now complete. The Chinese Communist Party deliberately grooms loyal operatives in U.S. communities with large ethnic Chinese populations, inserts them into local office, uses them to spread propaganda, meddle in elections, and suppress dissent — especially against Falun Gong and its world-renowned Shen Yun performances, which the regime despises.

Arcadia was a calculated target. Wang must resign at once. Congress and the Justice Department should immediately investigate the full extent of this CCP network in American local governments. Beijing’s agents have no business holding any public office on U.S. soil. The era of looking the other way is over.
