KINGSTON- New York State has recognized Ulster County’s Child System of Care Committee with the 2026 “What’s Great in Our State” System of Care Award for its work improving access to mental health services for children and families.

The award was presented on Tuesday in Albany during Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.  State officials praised the county’s collaboration with schools and community providers to deliver coordinated, family-centered care.

A key part of the effort is a partnership with the LaSalle School that places therapists and care managers in every middle school in Ulster County at no cost to families.  County officials said the program operated at 95 percent capacity in 2025, with most participants successfully connected to long-term support services.

“Ulster County’s Child System of Care Committee brings together providers to collaborate on innovative strategies aimed at closing gaps and more effectively delivering care to our families,” state Office of Mental Health Commissioner Dr. Ann Sullivan said.

The committee is part of Integrated Ulster, a countywide initiative focused on improving support services through collaboration among schools, providers and community organizations.
