CARMEL- On Friday, a 68-year-old resident of Carmel was discovered lying face down in his family’s swimming pool and was subsequently pronounced dead at Putnam Hospital Center.
Nine-one-one calls sent members of the Carmel Police, Carmel Fire Department, Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps, an Empress Paramedic, and Putnam Bureau of Emergency Services to the residence on Colonel Glenn Drive off Route 6 in the county seat.
Authorities said the victim Leonard Kusnir had been cleaning the pool and when his wife went outside to check on the progress about an hour later, she found her husband in the water.
After emergency responders arrived, they pulled the victim from the pool and performed CPR. Kusnir was then taken to Putnam Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police summoned a second ambulance to the residence when Kusnir’s wife became distraught. Medical staff provided her with care at the location.
