ROCK HILL – Crystal Run Healthcare/Optum is closing its OB/GYN practice in Rock Hill as of July 1 and that is a “devastating loss for women’s health in Sullivan County,” State Assemblywoman Paula Kay (D, Rock Hill) said on Wednesday.
She said only two of the company’s four healthcare providers will be staying in Sullivan County as they move to other practices – one to Sun River Healthcare in Monticello and the other, to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill in Harris.
“Sullivan County is a very big geographical area and folks in the western end of the county, just to get to Rock Hill, that already was a burden. And now if they are going to try follow their doctors down to Middletown, the two doctors that are going down to Middletown, that could be an hour and 20 minutes,” she said.
Kay said she is working to find other providers of women’s healthcare for her county.
