MAHOPAC – It has been full circle for Vince DiGrandi.
The 1989 Mahopac High School graduate who served as Mahopac Middle School principal from 2013 to 2017 has returned to Putnam County’s largest school district as superintendent of schools.
After a nationwide search, the Mahopac Board of Education appointed DiGrandi to succeed Frank Miele, who was selected for the current school term after Christina Tona retired last year.
School Board President Michael Mongon said the district “is in a strong position, and we are confident that Mr. DiGrandi will build on our success and lead us into an even brighter future. He brings a deep sense of integrity and perseverance to this role, qualities that align with the values of our community. We are delighted and honored to welcome him back to our school district as our next superintendent and we look forward to the leadership and vision he will bring in the years ahead.”
DiGrandi brings a broad range of experience to the role, including prior service as principal at Fishkill Plains Elementary School in the Wappingers Central School District, where he earned recognition from the New York State PTA for innovative literacy programming.
DiGrandi also served as principal in the North Salem School District, where he led a 6-12 campus, overseeing budget and staffing while supporting high levels of student achievement, including a graduation rate of 96-98 percent and national recognition for the high school.
DiGrandi expressed that being named Superintendent of Mahopac Schools was a great privilege, emphasizing how much the district and community have influenced his personal growth. “Mahopac has been my home as a student, resident and administrator and it is a privilege to give back to the district that gave me so much,” he said.
