POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County and the City of Poughkeepsie have been invaded by zombies, and the public is going to be affected by the creatures for the next few days. Filming for the movie “Zero Protocol” began earlier this week at the Dutchess County Office Building on Market Street and is moving to city properties.
Significant disruptions to parking and traffic flow in the downtown Poughkeepsie area are expected when filming resumes on May 4 and May 5, according to City Hall. Filming in the downtown area began on Friday, but caused minimal interruptions.
City officials released a statement about the filming, saying, “Residents may notice temporary changes to the downtown Poughkeepsie streetscape, including fake storefronts that have been set up on Main Street to transform the City of Poughkeepsie into a cinematic version of New York City. While these filming activities cause temporary disruptions, the presence of the film industry provides a direct economic boost to the local economy. All permit and filming fees collected from the production are allocated to the City’s General Fund, which supports essential municipal services and local infrastructure.”
